When it comes to ramen, it’s very personal. Everyone has their own favourite’s.
Me, I’ve found mine… Kyushu Jangara, a Hakata ramen chain with outlets across Tokyo!
I like the Harajuku branch cuz it’s so convenient and the service is friendly. The first level is more for “eat and go” so I always head to the second level where there’s both tables and counter seats available.

The menu has different permutations of various tonkotsu-based (pig bone) soups and toppings so making a decision can be quite hard for me sometimes, haha.

Below is the number 1 bestseller is the basic Kyushu Jangara ramen, born in 1984!

I tried their natto ramen in summer this year and loveeeee it! But sadly, it’s not available anymore since it’s autumn now. This time, I chose the bonshan soup, which the menu describes as “high in collagen”. It’s incredibly creamy and rich! Good stuff.
Oh ya, a shaker of white sesame seeds is provided for every table so remember to sprinkle some on top. Trust me, the fragrant aroma will add another dimension to your ramen!

I know they say it’s the broth but for me, the highlight of a steamy bowl of ramen is the egg!
And Kyushu Jangara consistently churns out the best ramen egg ever. You can choose either a hard-boiled or half-boiled egg. I seriously don’t know who will go for the former since where’s the fun of eating a cooked egg when it’s the runny yolk that can make your heart skip a beat, aye?
