Now that Bay Sushi is on my condemned list, The Sushi Bar has became my new to-go makan-maki joint! There’s definitely no ambience to speak of (pic below tells all), but the food is oishii max! Cross my heart.
Tamago is always a must for us eggs-lovers; though nothing fabulous considering that it’s homemade.
Without a doubt, the anago sushi is the highlight!! Sooooo soft and delicate, the texture is one of the better ones I’ve tasted outside of Japan. And at 7 bucks (no GST or service charge, yay!) apiece, it’s very (I’m afraid to use the taboo word c.h.e.a.p.) reasonably priced.
We are in love with aburi stuff these days (a blow torch is already on my future wish list for the kitchen) so tuna avocado roll naturally pales in comparison with both the salmon aburi roll and soft shell crab salmon roll! The latter is a most powerful combo, imagine crispy deep-fried soft shell crab + creamy avocado + smoky tender salmon, ahhhhh~
