This post is dedicated to all the guys out there with a deep pocket wanting to impress their ladies on Valentine’s Day but have yet to decide on the dinner venue.
How about considering The Halia?
The location is already a winner. Situated within the Ginger Garden at Botanic Gardens, the restaurant is a perfect city getaway and the ambience pretty much screams romantic. Remember to plan for a walk before or after dinner!
On 14th February, Halia will be offering a 4-course Valentine’s set dinner menu. In line with the theme of “Poetic Expressions of Love“, each course is served with a note bearing a love quote from famous poets. Ah, if only guys can think of this themselves!
Another innovative gesture is the complimentary “phone-sitting” service, where you and your lovely partner can leave your phones with the reception so that no one from the “outside world” can disturb your evening, haha.
Ok, let’s talk money. Two options available:
1. $300 nett per couple for a 4-course menu, a single rose and a picture souvenir. If you wish to pair each course with wine, that’s an additional $150 nett per couple, sir.
2. $500 nett per couple for premium garden dining, the 4-course menu, a bouquet of roses, picture souvenir, a bottle of sparkling wine and complimentary Halia tea vouchers. The additional $150 for wine pairing applies here too.
Note that full payment is required for reservations if you are keen to go for the set menu.
Now you see why this post is addressed to those with a fat wallet, aye? Love on such a special day don’t come cheap for some, sadly.
As for the menu, here goes.
Quartet of baked Sydney rock oysters.
With sauteed sweet pepper, smoked bacon, shallot, salmon ikura.
With cucumber linguine, champagne cream, dill.
Tian of vine ripened tomato, pine nut, guacamole, mango salsa, shiso, braised courgette.
Oysters are not my thing so chef prepared this for me. It’s difficult to not enjoy such a colourful dish!
Foie gras presse onion cream, apple silvers in port, balsamic and port reduction, crystallized rose petal.
For the main course, it’s either fish or meat.
Grilled Atlantic mackerel with soy, balsamic glaze, sweet carrot, sauteed potato with garlic, thyme and rosemary.
Rangers Valley wagyu beef cheek, mash potato, sauteed shimeiji mushroom, lemon aioli, tomato confit and edamame bean.
Desserts come with a choice too.
Raspberry mousse, rose marshmallow and vanilla Chantilly mascarpone cream~
A pretty treat for the ladies!
But I like the other option even more.
Star anise chocolate bar, salty caramel ice cream and strawberry meringue!
Petit fours, a lovely end to the meal.
Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone in advance! Have a good one : )
Many thanks to Karen from FoodNews for inviting and hosting! I’m really honoured to be one of the first few to taste the Valentine’s Day menu~
