5 cakes for 2 girls — that’s what happens when foodies-with-sweet-tooth meet. Really pleased with the calories spent at Pâtisserie Asako Iwayanagi パティスリ アサコ イワヤナギ, a chic neighbourhood boutique shop with beautifully crafted desserts. It’s impossible to choose a favourite out of the houjicha-raspberry tart (a surprising combi!), nutty chocolate slice, pistachio-cherry cake, and matcha-white chocolate terrine. I’m not a fan of sakura desserts but the sakura mont blanc is too pretty to miss.

Guess what, even after 5 cakes, I didn’t feel full at all. That’s the beauty of Japanese desserts — always so light yet satisfyingly rich in flavours.

I didn’t fall in love with it; it was forgettable and the meringue base could be crispier.
