Libertable‘s porcini mushroom mont blanc was ok but I like the “veggie in cakes” concept enough to give it another go. This time, the dark chocolate with black truffle cake got to me. In a good way. It’s such a dramatic cake; both sweet and savoury flavours are so wonderfully balanced.

Incorporating vegetables in cakes? Now that’s Libertable taking “healthy living” to the next level. There’s a few funky flavours such as pistachio with dill (or fennel, I can’t tell), caramel with sake, and apple with foie gras. My mont blanc came with porcini mushroom and thankfully the latter was more subtle than in-your-face to complement the sweet chestnut. I didn’t fall in love with it; it was forgettable and the meringue base could be crispier.
