Cityshop Deli is my favourite salad shop in Tokyo but now I’ve found a close second at PULP Deli & Cafe パルプ デリ&カフェ! Newly opened at Shibuya Cast (take exit 13 from Shibuya train station), it offers a DIY custom deli plate which adds a lot of points for fussy eaters like me. Their broccoli with ricotta cheese is the best and I’m going to have two servings of that next time!

Like Midori SushiUoriki 魚力 is one of those reliably good sushi joints reserved for days when I just want sushi and I don’t feel like exploring somewhere new. Tourists flock here (it’s Shibuya!!), but locals dine here as well so I won’t say it’s super touristy. The menu has a selection of fixed sushi platters and dons but I prefer ordering my favourites a la carte — anago, chutoro, hotate, kani, uni, negitoro, otoro, tamago, ikura, ebi. Sounds good right! Very pleased with my choices except kani and ebi (not fresh enough) so will skip those next time.

If a chocolate soft serve is good and creamy and ticks all the boxes of what a soft serve should be, words are superfluous.

P.S. the chef behind Le Chocolat De H is the owner of Mont St Clair, a famous patisserie in Tokyo so this is legit.

I have a terrible sweet tooth but I try to find “healthier” alternatives most of the time. Like dairy-free ice cream, or agave-sweetened desserts. They make me feel better about inhaling sugar haha. Finally found something not so sinful at Gelateria Tie-An. They do soy versions and apparently the bestseller has edamame in it. Too funky for me though; I’ll stick to my usual dark chocolate, matcha (can skip the one here), and kinako kuromitsu. The kinako kuro is very good! More intense and much better than Pariya’s.

Ooooo glad I found Pariya パリヤ, a gelato place I like! Picked dark chocolate (always!) and kinako kuromitsu; that tiny glob you see there is almond coffee. Before handing the cup to you, the staff will ask whether you want to try any other flavour so you get a mini serving of the desired flavour, so cute! P.S. Pariya is also the supplier of salads at Cityshop Deli, +++ points because I’m a fan!

If you saw my IG stories or if we are FB friends, you would know that I trained out of Tokyo to Satte, Saitama, for the most beautiful view of canola fields flanked with rows and rows of sakura trees! Truly breathtaking and it made me so happy!

Ok, back to food. Most people go for bento boxes when taking train rides in Japan but I prefer the simple tamago sando (egg sandwich) from Amanoya 天のや. Ignore the dry bread; just focus on the custardy egg slathered with an addictive wasabi mayo spread. Too much love for this.
