We walked over from my apartment to 俺のBakery&Cafe at 9.30am and were shocked that a line was already forming for the sale of takeaway loaves at 10am. If you are dining at the cafe, you can skip the queue but full menu is only available after 10am so you still have to wait anyway. Both the tamago sando and azuki toast were tasty but we wouldn’t queue for the bread!

I’ll be in Seattle for 3 weeks so I’m going to miss sushi, sashimi and Japanese food very very much! Before my flight at Narita Airport, here’s my last-ditch attempt to have a proper #byebyejapan meal: negitoro and marinated tuna don from Tsukiji Sushi Iwa 築地寿司岩. Perfect fuel for the long flight ahead!

If you saw my IG stories or if we are FB friends, you would know that I trained out of Tokyo to Satte, Saitama, for the most beautiful view of canola fields flanked with rows and rows of sakura trees! Truly breathtaking and it made me so happy!
Ok, back to food. Most people go for bento boxes when taking train rides in Japan but I prefer the simple tamago sando (egg sandwich) from Amanoya 天のや. Ignore the dry bread; just focus on the custardy egg slathered with an addictive wasabi mayo spread. Too much love for this.
Day 1: Hyakuzen 百膳

If you need an eating spot before/after your flight at Haneda Airport, I highly recommend Hyakuzen 百膳 located at L4 of Edo Market. The fixed meals are very affordable and my unagi set came with tasty morsels of tamagoyaki and seasonal vegetables coated with sesame. It was a late dinner for me and the tender unagi slices were so satisfying! Some other tempting options include negitoro don and salmon avocado don. I can already foresee myself coming back here often whenever I fly in/out of Haneda.
