We walked over from my apartment to 俺のBakery&Cafe at 9.30am and were shocked that a line was already forming for the sale of takeaway loaves at 10am. If you are dining at the cafe, you can skip the queue but full menu is only available after 10am so you still have to wait anyway. Both the tamago sando and azuki toast were tasty but we wouldn’t queue for the bread!

Can you believe Joel Robuchon is also entering the konbini ice cream market? Tried the orange chocolate bar and woah, it’s surprisingly good and not sweet at all! But for a chocolate ice cream, it’s too expensive so #haagendazsfanforever

Similar to the avocado shaved ice, this beautiful pumpkin kakigori is all natural sweetness and we left feeling really healthy! Talk about self-delusion haha.

Because I eat avocado for breakfast daily, I rarely want to order avocado-anything when I’m dining out. The only exception is probably avocado kakigori! I like that this place blends the fruit toppings freshly upon order and there’s barely any sugar added. In fact, it’s not even sweet at all and I wish there’s some caramel or even better — gula melaka sauce on top!

K loves this place a lot more than I do. The ice here is better than the other kakigori shops we’ve tried so far — strands are shorter and less firmly packed. The pistachio tiramisu is a good pairing and I’m making a mental note to order the pure pistachio flavour next time!

Again, another kakigori we can’t appreciate — savoury mitarashi milk. Sorry to say this but I felt terribly uncomfortable after finishing this and the kinako kuromitsu kakigori, both of which have an overdoes of cream 😡

Scared of coming back!!

My heart sank when the staff at our regular breakfast spot Gontran Cherrier told us that the matcha pastries are no longer in season. Whatttttt, how can that be!! Matcha season has barely started! Upset, but still kind of happy with the default chocolate almond croissant.

On a side note, the Shibuya outlet has closed so go to the Shinjuku branch!

Welcoming K to my new apartment with a dessert night feast! We love buying ice cream from convenience stores for supper (only in Japan!) and Haagen Dazs is always on the agenda. This time, there’s a newfound love in Godiva’s Belgian dark chocolate cup and for a cheap thrill, the Ghana chocolate bar is dreamy too!

新橋鶴八 分店 does serious sushi but the location is arguably sleazy with massage parlours and sex toy shops. Reminds us of Orchard Tower which we go often (for food, not for anything else!) haha.

Anyway. There are a few pieces which I really like — katsuo, kohada, anago (omg don’t get me started on this), the signature trio tuna maki (best!) and uni, of course! K even let me have his share of uni sushi, a sign of true love right! That said, we agree that the shari is too dry and the finale of tamago is forgettable.

Cityshop Deli is my favourite salad shop in Tokyo but now I’ve found a close second at PULP Deli & Cafe パルプ デリ&カフェ! Newly opened at Shibuya Cast (take exit 13 from Shibuya train station), it offers a DIY custom deli plate which adds a lot of points for fussy eaters like me. Their broccoli with ricotta cheese is the best and I’m going to have two servings of that next time!
