Can you believe Joel Robuchon is also entering the konbini ice cream market? Tried the orange chocolate bar and woah, it’s surprisingly good and not sweet at all! But for a chocolate ice cream, it’s too expensive so #haagendazsfanforever

Welcoming K to my new apartment with a dessert night feast! We love buying ice cream from convenience stores for supper (only in Japan!) and Haagen Dazs is always on the agenda. This time, there’s a newfound love in Godiva’s Belgian dark chocolate cup and for a cheap thrill, the Ghana chocolate bar is dreamy too!

Even though Tokyo has endless dessert choices, I’m missing Frankie & Jo’s plant-based ice cream very much. Happy to report that I found a good substitute in Kippy’s Coco-Cream キッピーズ ココクリーム! They do vegan coconut based ice cream and because I kid myself that it’s healthy, I ended up with triple scoops of double dark chocolate, matcha and mocha. Now that Tokyo is heating up, I need to come here more often! #excuses

This Tsujiri 辻利 is not the same Tsujiri in Singapore. A long established teahouse in Uji, it has opened a take-away outlet at the newest chi-chi mall in Tokyo — Ginza Six. An exclusive to said mall, the “extra rich” matcha soft serve is expectedly good but I’m one of those annoying customers who want a stronger dose of matcha ha.

I know it’s early days (only Day 18!) but I think I’ve found my firm #1 favourite gelateria in Tokyo. Buon’Amore ブオン・アモーレ supposedly churns “healthier” gelato with low/no sugar and what got to me were the beautifully smooth texture and deep intense flavours. I sampled a few (moringa matcha is a funky one) and settled on pistachio and dark chocolate. This is one of those times when I just want to keep on eating and eating. So sooo good.

Hey, if it’s good enough for the Spanish royal family, it’s certainly good enough for me! Cacao Sampaka is the appointed royal chocolate supplier in Spain and カカオ サンパカ at Marunouchi Brick Square is their first boutique store in Japan. I’ve got no one to share the chocolates with (waiting for K!!) so only the soft serve is doable for now. The blend is obviously quite different from Le Chocolat De H’s and I’ll need to try both side by side to pick a favourite ha.

You wouldn’t expect a middle eastern nuts/spices shop selling matcha gelato but it is what it is at Far East Bazaar ヒカリエ. The unmistakably earthy matcha flavour is very intense (the staff even warned me in advance) but I don’t like the icy and “crumbly” texture. Next.
