I have been stalking K-Vincent website religiously for a couple of weeks now because they are one of the most elusive patisseries I know of! That’s because they only open for business a few days per month and will release opening dates randomly. I finally managed to drop by on one such rare occasion (yay!), queued for almost an hour (nay!), and snagged three cakes — Chocolate Amer, Chocolate Mille-feuille, and the biggest Mont Blanc ever. All are good though not outstanding, handmade and rustic in looks (not super refined), and I guess this is a valuable lesson of diminishing returns as my eyes are way bigger than my stomach and I couldn’t finish them all, sob.

Cassis in mont blanc? I tried one such combination from Patisserie Jun Ujita パティスリー ジュンウジタ and it was surprisingly good. Slightly tart berry flavour, sweet chestnut puree, moist almond frangipane-ish base, sweet tooth satisfied! Worth trying if you see his cakes popping up at Shinjuku Takashimaya food hall; otherwise his main patisserie is quite far out of the main Tokyo area and I’m not in a hurry to head there.
